Why We Started

The Foundation was born out of Chris Wofford’s personal journey. Growing up in chaotic circumstances, he found mentorship and hope through athletics. By joining a team, being guided by coaches and committing himself to a collective goal, Chris overcame his early challenges.

Chris’ success on the athletic field led, in turn, to academic accomplishments. Ultimately, Chris emerged as a two-sport all-star at Oberlin College, honors student and a successful leader in finance, which led to founding Wofford Advisors, a top-ranked M&A boutique.

Because of his experience, the Foundation is committed to helping students who might otherwise be under-resourced, supporting programs that offer “safe places,” as well as funding merit-based scholarships.
